Canberra Dutch School
Various sites in the Canberra Region
The Canberra Dutch School teaches Dutch to primary school children in Canberra and the surrounding regions. The school provides children from the ages 5-12 the opportunity to learn Dutch or continue their Dutch education in line with the curriculum of the Netherlands.
A qualified Dutch teacher will come to your child’s school to provide the lesson during school hours so your child doesn’t require any travelling to the lesson. Arrangements are made with full consent of your school’s principal.
The children practice literacy, vocabulary, reading as well as Dutch culture. We also stimulate Dutch through games and short craft activities. Learning materials include: textbooks, workbooks, CD-ROMs, library books and educational games. Generous support from the ACT Multicultural Office and the Canberra Dutch Club Inc had made it possible to establish a quality collection of teaching resources.
The Canberra Dutch School gets together a few times a year for fun activities like ice skating, a summer picnic and cultural events like St Nicholas and Queen’s Day. This provides students with the opportunity to mix with other children learning Dutch.
