*Creation of Hunmin Jeongeum (Han-geul)
In the course of goreign invasions and their expulsion at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty, the Korean people developed a strong sense of nationalism. As this trend continued in the Joseon Dynasty, the belief in Dangun was enhanced and interst in traditional culture grew.
Hunmin Jeong-eun (the Korean alphabet) was created in light of such national in 1443. Hunmin Jeong-eum is one of the finest alphabets in the world because of the originality of its scientific structure. Because Joseon lacked its own national alphabet, Chinese characters had been used. However, the invention of Hangul allowed the people to write more easily.
