Australia Sri Lanka Buddhist Association was formed in 1991 and registered as an incorporated body. Before the construction of our temple in Kambah we had our Sunday schools in Sakyamuni Buddhist Center in Lyneham and Laos Temple in Kambah. We built our temple and start to function in 1995. Since then regular classes were held and at the moment there are 54 students. The teachers in the school are from our community and they are graduates in different fields.
The student of the school participate in community work including major religious functions organized by the Temple. Also there is an annual concert organized by the school.
The language taught is “Sinhala”. This is the major language used in Sri Lanka. Most of the words are mainly related to Sanskrit. The country is situated in the Indian Ocean just below the tip of the southern end of India.
