From the Battlefield to the Kitchen: Public Lecture with John Lee
Food photographer John Lee, who will be conducting a two week workshop at Tumo, will also give a public lecture, where he will talk about how he started out as a photojournalist and slowly became a food photographer.
Lee, who currently lives and works in San Francisco, has extensive experience in both photojournalism and studio photography. For many years, he worked as a photographer at the Chicago Tribune where he covered US presidential campaigns, religious fundamentalism in Pakistan and Indonesia, the Iraq war, and numerous other political and social stories. He has also worked as a portrait and news photogrpaher for the Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine. Starting in 2005, Lee began to specialize in food photography, including still lifes of food, portraiture and reporting. His work has appeared in a number of chef's recipe books and US and European magazines.
