Video documentation and trailer of Youth Peace Camp 2015

The Youth Peace Camp is an annual initiative of the Council of Europe since 2004. In 2015,the Youth Peace will bring together young people (aged 18-25) from Armenia, Azerbaijan,Georgia (including Abkhazia and South Ossetia), Kosovo1, the Russian Federation, Serbia,and Ukraine during an eight day camp. The participants engage in an experiential learning process and acquire competences in the fields of inter cultural learning, dialogue and conflict transformation within a human rights framework. The participants, six from each of the eight mentioned regions will each be guided by a facilitator (junior trainer), one from each of the regions. The facilitators are responsible for preparing the participants, guiding them during the Youth Peace Camp including where capable facilitate several sessions and following up on the participants afterwards. The team of facilitators will be coordinated by a Senior trainer and a member of the Educational team at the European Youth Centre Budapest.
Aim:
The Youth Peace Camp aims to engage with young people and leaders in youth organisations from conflict stricken regions by providing them a positive experience in living
and learning together. The camp’s programme develops their competences for dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on human rights education and intercultural learning and motivates them to act as multipliers for peace in their communities and organisations.
Objectives:
The main objectives (personal, organisational and institutional) of the Youth Peace Camp are:
 To develop the conceptual and practical meanings of conflict, peace, and conflict transformation through dialogue.
 To share among participants their personal experiences of conflict and violence and their coping strategies, identifying what is common and specific between them.
 To develop the competences, (knowledge, skills and attitude) of participants in conflict transformation, intercultural learning and dialogue, including a critical understanding of personal and collective identities and their role in conflicts.
 To learn about human rights and human rights education as frameworks for conflict transformation and dialogue in participants’ realities.
 To learn from existing youth work practices and experiences of young people within working on dialogue and conflict transformation coming from different conflict stricken
regions.
 To motivate and support participants in their role as multipliers and peer leaders in peace building activities with young people from their organisations and communities.
 To increase the expertise of the Council of Europe, in particular its youth sector, in working with conflict transformation as part of its mission in relation to intercultural dialogue and address online expressions of Hate Speech, specifically by facilitating the participants’ contribution to the No Hate Speech Movement.
The aim
The video documentation of Youth Peace Camp 2015 aims to give the viewer an understanding of the concept of the Youth Peace Camp, its implementation and potential
effects on the views of young people living in conflict effected regions in Europe.
The viewer will:
- Be introduced to the objectives of Youth Peace Camp.
- Be introduced to the main programme elements of the 8 day long activity
- Be introduced to the profile of participants and facilitators and their motivation to attend as young people being affected by conflict and war in the regions they come
from.
- To understand the importance of Intercultural Dialogue and Human rights Education as a framework to engage in dialogue between members of communities from
different sides of a regional conflict.
- Be learn about the learning impact and personal development of present and former participants of Youth Peace Camps.
- Get an impression of the Youth Peace Camp as a space for learning and living together for Human Rights and Dialogue.
The production team can invite participants, facilitators and members of the staff to take part in interviews, make recordings during sessions and has access to additional photo materials of past camps as also preliminary results of an impact assessment of 10 years Youth Peace Camp.
Expected products
A trailer about YPC, that is:
- 1 minute long,
- Explains what Youth Peace Camp is, its aim and target group,
- In easy to understand English.
- Include the logo of Youth Peace Camp and at the end of the trailer the Logo of the Council of Europe, the Youth department.
The video documentary, that is:
- Between 5 to 8 minutes,
- Delivered in MP4 HD format, 720 p definition and 16:9 screen format,
- Provide the viewer the information as described above under the aim,
- In easy to understand English, other languages represented in the video must be subtitled in English,
- Include the logo of Youth Peace Camp and at the end of the video the logo of the
Council of Europe, the Youth department.
Target audience
The video documentation will be published on the Youth Department webpage dedicated to the Youth Peace Camp (under construction). This page primarily reaches young people and youth workers active in the field of peace building, Intercultural dialogue and Human Rights.
Up to two members of the production team are invited to attend the Youth Peace Camp.
Flights, accommodation and board will be provided by the Youth Department for the period of the Youth Peace Camp.
The overall price proposal should be in the range of 3500,- euro.
