Introduction to Academic Writing Part-time Course

Course Summary: 

To develop ability to write English in a formal academic style.

Course Content:

During this course students will become familiar with basic features of academic writing and will be developing the following writing skills:
>Recognising the difference between academic and non-academic writing.
>Using the register and style appropriate for academic writing.
>Using a variety of grammatical structures accurately.
>Being aware of the components of a good basic sentence.
>Constructing well-organised paragraphs.
>Understanding and using linking devices appropriately.
>Producing well-organised essays.
Eligibility: 

The course is recommended for people from a non-English speaking background with little or no training in writing English in a formal academic style and suitable for those with an intermediate or higher level of general proficiency in English ISLPR 2 and above.

Courses offered every 5 weeks.Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday 6.30-8.30pm or Saturday 9.00am-1.30pm. Four hours tuition per week for 5 weeks.
